Review: Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail

One lucky Mom in our Mom and Baby Active group got the chance to review the Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail . She has a 5 month old son – and any moms knows how many diapers a 5 month old goes through in a day! She was able to use the Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail for 2 weeks in hope it would make her life a little easier with a baby (as easy as life can be with a baby around!). I was very excited to get my hands on the Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail and try it out in my son’s nursery.  Before my son was born we were given a used hand-me-down diaper pail, which is what we had been using until this new diaper pail came into our lives.  At first I was just excited about this diaper pail’s shiny, new, modern appearance but I was quickly impressed by just how amazing it was!  My old hand-me-down diaper pail didn’t stand a chance – I thought it worked fine, sure it would get smelly if it wasn’t emptied daily but I assumed that was the case for all diaper pails, a smelly diaper would always equal a smelly nursery.  Well that is not the case anymore!   With the Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail our nursery has been smelling fresh, even after several days of not being emptied!

I love how convenient it is.  The step pedal opens the lid completely allowing easy disposal of a dirty diaper without having to touch anything, leaving hands free for baby.  Once the lid is closed, the bag is twisted to contain any odors.  Plus the lid is equipped with an Arm & Hammer lavender scented baking soda puck, which continually absorbs odors and gives the added bonus of a lovely scent of lavender when the lid is opened.   The bags also have a light lavender scent, ensuring an always fresh smell.  Emptying the diaper pail is also really easy, especially since it only has to be emptied when it is full, not each time a dirty diaper gets thrown in!  With the push of the childproof door release, the door swings open completely allowing easy access to remove the bag and simply pull down and tie off a new bag from the Arm & Hammer refill ring.
