We love going for ice cream, especially in the summer. We had lots of fun doing this blog – my girls think we should do our Fave 100 – not just Fave 5 because they want to keep going for more ice cream!
We love supporting local and can do so at Fable. Fable is a locally owned and run store and they source may of their ingredients from local farmers. The ice cream is made in small batches with natural ingredients and it tastes amazing! The flavours are amazing – we love it! They use organic milk and sugar cane and have diary free and vegan options. They also love love Saskatoon and are always giving back to our community!
2. Bus Stop Refreshments – Spadina Cres E
In the summer we do a lot of biking along the river and one of our favourite stops along the way is the Bus Stop Refreshments. The bus is located across the street from the Bessbourgh Hotel. My daughters LOVE the look of it – an antique double decker bus – they think it’s the coolest place to get ice cream. After enjoying a delicious hot dog we love the variety of ice cream available. My daughters love the candy that comes on their cone too! There is so much happening downtown in the summer and Kiwanis park is beautiful is for a walk or bike ride.
3. River Landing Snacks – 110 Spadina Cres E
River Landing is beautiful, we spend a lot of time there in the summer walking, biking and playing in the spray park. The spray park is always a hit with my daughters and we can spend hours there on a warm summer day, and what a better way to end than with an ice cream (and then running back through the water to clean the ice cream off their hands and face!). They have both hard and soft ice cream options as well as a big menu of food items if you’re going to spend the day!
4. Crickle Creek – 305 Valley Rd
We love going out to Crickle Creek – definitely one of my daughters favourite places to go! Mini Golf, bouncers (some with water on those hot summer days) and of course ice cream at What’s the Scoop Ice Cream Works. They offer 16 flavours of hard ice cream as well as other delicious novelties. There is so much to do on Valley Road in the summer – be sure to make a day of it and check out all the amazing local businesses!
5. Homestead Ice Cream – 822 Victoria Ave
Another summer favourite stop. We often park at Rotary Park and enjoy a walk before and after our ice cream stop. We love how there are always new and unique flavours – every time we go there is always something new. My oldest thinks the double cone is the coolest ice cream cone she has ever seen and was so excited when she got it for the first time! All the ice cream is made on site in small batches. Homestead also has a truck so we often visit them at various festivals and events around the city in the summer!
