Losing A Legend

As a smaller community, Spruce Grove is known for a few things… Jacks Drive-In milkshakes, photo radar behind every bush, Jennifer Heil, and our amazing mall Santa. Every year, not only do hundreds of Spruce Grove families flock into Westland Market Mall, but people from Stony Plain, Edmonton, Onoway and even Barrhead make the trek into town to visit our Jolly Ol’ St.Nick!

Gordon Ness, our Santa, was kind and patient. He made kids feel comfortable and always took the time to listen to them. He never rushed, and made Christmas Magic really come to life. He’s been our local Santa for 12 seasons, and it’s clear that he had the perfect heart for the job. It is with heavy hearts, that we learn of the passing of our dear Santa. The outpouring of support for him and his family on social media is not surprising. Our city lost a staple, and our Santa will truly be missed. Rest in Peace Gordon.
