March Break is around the corner, and our family is thrilled to be staying in town this year. We have a jam-packed week of fun planned, and I thought that I would share our “staycation” ideas in case you’d like to follow along!
1.I have an obsession with hotels. Something about the crisp white sheets (that I didn’t have to wash) and the adventure of being somewhere new. With our Canadian dollar in the tanker, a trip to the US for March Break isn’t in the cards, but we still wanted to have a family adventure. We’re headed to the Novotel Toronto Centre for a night to live like tourists in a city we know and love. We’re huge fans of this hotel for it’s convenient location by the St Lawrence Market, great price point, and awesome facilities. You can see some photos below, and read about our last visit here. This year we’re using it as a home base while we cross number 2, 3 and 4 off of our Staycation Bucket list.

2. We head to digiPlaySpace every year. Located in the TIFF Bell Lightbox, the digiPlaySpace is an immersive learning experience. Visitors have their sense delighted by the world’s most innovative, imaginative, and entertaining media creations. Here, kids of all ages can play with brand new interactive installations making their world premieres, strap on VR scuba goggles to descend into the Arctic Ocean, and dance their way into an incredible new land in which their movements shape the elements. Here, imaginations are set free as visitors put their heads in the clouds; enter paper doodles into the digital realm of videogaming; roll up their sleeves to build creative circuits, inventing new gadgets and programming friendly robots; and so much more! You can view a list of all of the exhibits here. While we are there we plan on checking out one of the DreamWorks Animation classics being featured all week on the big screen.
3. After a chilled night at our hotel, we’ll head over to The Art Gallery Of Ontario for their March Break Family Fun Drop-In.
4. My mini comic book fan adores ComicCon. He gets to meet all of his idols, and it makes for some amazing people watching. Click here for a coupon for free kids admission with the purchase of an adult ticket.
5. There are a number of FREE (or close to free!) activities for kids in Toronto this week.
Have you been to the new Michael’s store by Sherway Gardens? They have mini craft sessions ($2 fee) to entertain the kiddos while mama shops in peace.6. By this point we’re going to want some fresh air, so we’ll be heading to the Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival at The Kortright Centre. I’ve never been, and I’m, excited to cross this festival off of my bucket list.
7. And the grand finale of our week? Our Mommy Connections Superhero Brunch with Captain America and Super Woman at the Firken On The Bay!
