New Director

We are very pleased to welcome Mariel as the newest member of our management team! She will be joining Jennifer as a Co-Director, and we are really looking forward to this exciting new partnership! Mariel first got involved with Mommy Connections as a participant in our Mom & Baby program. From there, she became a Facilitator, connecting moms in our programs. She has some great ideas and has already begun making a difference in our community. Mariel can be reached at Mariel@mommyconnections.ca . LAUNCH: Mom & Tyke and Mom & Kinder

This fall we will be launching two new programs! Mom & Tyke will be geared towards little ones aged 3-4, and Mom & Kinder will cater to those who are 4-5. The current Mom & Tot will still be the option for 1-2 year olds, and our baby will still be suitable for any babies under 12 months. These new class levels will help us specialize programs and gear all of our activities to the developmental stages of participants. We will also be offering regular Mom To Be programs beginning in the fall, and carrying through 2015.

Events in and around our community

-Mommy Mixer in the Park – Join Mommy Connections & Re/Max team Ian and Chantel on August 24^th at Jubilee Park for a FREE community event. We’ll be set up from 12-3 and will have plenty of freebies & fun stuff for you and your family. Please bring a donation for the Parkland County Food Bank (cash donations will also be collected). We look forward to seeing you there!

-The Summer Fun Festival will be happening July 11-13 at the Stony Plain Pavilion. Affordable admission, Tot Zone, Tradeshow & tons of great events and activities will make this a must-do event this summer!

-For the older kids, the Lob Cabin staff will be hosting a Treasure Hunt on July 19^th at 1:00. The kids will be sent on a scavenger hunt and the first one to return with the items will win a prize! See the city website for more details.

-August 16^th will bring the annual Farm & Heritage Carnival presented by the Spruce Grove Agricultural Society. Pony rides, farm animals & live entertainment make this an event to mark on your calendars!

-Check out the Farmers Market every weekend! Spruce Grove has theirs on Saturday at the Grain Elevator from 9:30-1:30, and Stony Plain holds theirs 9:00-1:00 at the Stony Plain Community Centre.

-Catch an outdoor movie in Stony Plain on Aug 21 at Heritage Park. This years feature film will be Despicable Me 2. Movie kicks off at 9:00, but the fun begins around 8:00. This event is FREE to attend and proceed from the concession go to support the Stony Plain Youth Centre.

Summer Mom Tips

-Use a cupcake wrapper as the base for popsicles to keep the mess to a minimum.

-Freeze chunks of lemon, raspberries, cucumbers in ice as a quick way to infuse some flavor into your little ones water!

-Don’t forget the sunscreen!

-Dip raspberries in vanilla yogurt and freeze over night for a cool healthy snack.

-Registration for our September programs will open in August! Register early to reserve your spot.
