The anticipation for expecting parents as they await their new arrival can be almost too much to bare. Of course first and foremost, parents want to know that their baby will be born healthy. However, as technology advances, we’re able to get a further look into our growing babies. Gone are the days of a black & white, blurry sonogram, now we are able to see facial features, finger nails, and even whether or not we can expect a head full of hair! Typically an expecting woman will be sent for one or two standard ultrasounds. These allow the technician to take measurements and report back to your doctor if there are any concerns. What you may expect to be an exciting and informative appointment can often turn into a quiet, dark room with a stranger pushing on your ready-to-burst bladder. Enter Fight Sight 4D Ultrasound. This new studio in Spruce Grove, provides parents with a truly unique experience. We were fortunate enough to sit down with one expecting family and catch a glimpse into what this service can really provide for excited families.

Meagan was 27 weeks along in her second pregnancy when she came into her appointment at First Sight 4D Ultrasound. She brought along her hubby, Thomas, their 2.5 year old son, Dane and both sets of parents. Walking into the studio feels like walking into a family home. There is a side table set out with snacks and refreshments, comfy couches and the owner Michelle behind the desk welcoming you with a friendly smile.

Meagan was booked for the “Inside Out” package. This all-inclusive package is truly one-of-a-kind and includes 30 minutes of viewing time PLUS a mini maternity photo shoot all in one convenient location. A disc is provided with approximately 50 photos as well as video clips from the ultrasound as well as 3 maternity photos.

The ultrasound room was warm and comfortable. Dimmed lights provided a relaxing atmosphere and there were leather couches and a wall-mounted TV for guest comfort throughout the viewing. Ultrasound clinic rooms generally have very limited space, so being able to bring the whole family along is almost unheard of. This was certainly not the case as the family gathered around to see their newest family member on the big screen. Next to the ultrasound table where Meagan lay, were sliding glass doors that lead into the play area, where Dane could play within plain view of Mom & Dad if he got restless of watching his new baby sister. The whole layout was executed to accommodate a family perfectly.

As soon as the baby’s face came onto the screen, the family was in complete awe. They began pointing out her facial features: button nose, rounded cheeks, similarities with big brother Dane, but the real magic happened when she decided to show the family her smile and the room just melted. As the viewing went on they connected while reminiscing about when Meagan was pregnant with Dane and bringing back memories from the soon-to-be new grandparents.

“We never had anything like this when I was pregnant with you!” Thomas’s mother kept repeating.

This session was able to bring this family together and let them experience the miracle of pregnancy, while kick starting their relationship with their newest member. The connection that develops in vitro is one that owner Michelle loves being able to bring to expecting families.

“I like being able to be a part of the whole process of families bonding with their baby’s. It’s nice to be able to have that baby included in the family before their arrival.” She told us after the viewing.

Pregnancy is such an exciting time and we feel honoured that Meagan and Thomas let us join them as they were able to truly get a sneak peak at their unborn daughter.
